Master in Coaching and Family and Marital Support

The Master’s degree consists of two courses that can be taken independently:

  1. Accompaniment Course , allows obtaining the title of Expert in Coaching and Family and Marital Accompaniment (Accompaniment) , a title accredited by the Instituto da Familia.
  2. Orientation Course , allows obtaining the title of Expert in Coaching and Family and Marital Support (Orientation) , a title accredited by the Instituto da Familia.

We recommend starting with the Coaching course. By completing both courses and the TFM, you will obtain the title of Master in Coaching and Marriage and Family Coaching , as a degree from the Catholic University of Santa Teresa de Jesús de Ávila.

Master’s Thesis (10 credits)

b. Theoretical

The Practicum will consist of a simple practical application, in the workplace or in the area chosen by the person, of the tools learned during the course. It will be tutored and can be completed in four or five days. Upon completion, a report will be submitted following the manual that will be given to the student for this purpose. 

The Theoretical will consist of a short writing on one of the topics covered during the course or a summary and commentary of a book in which one of the items covered during the course is expanded upon. A list of books and possible topics will be provided to facilitate the student’s work.

General information

Presentation

The objective of this Master’s degree is to train its assistants in the art of Family and Marital Accompaniment in a practical way . This training is characterized by:

  1. Be based on a personalist anthropology of marriage and family.
  2. Using tools from coaching and personal psychology rethought and resized from this anthropological perspective and based on their application to a community of people.

Family coaching is a type of coaching, based on personalist anthropology, which offers methods of accompanying people in their families and the family itself with the aim of supporting them and encouraging them to fully develop.

Methodology
  • The method, tools and processes of Accompaniment are based on personalist anthropology and psychology.
  • Based on the above foundations, personal coaching tools are preferably used.
  • Instruments from humanistic psychology, positive psychology, helping relationships and logotherapy are also used, applied to the family and educational environment.
Working mode

Each module lasts two or three weeks. During the first week, the theoretical content will be presented and at the end of the same, the practical exercises. The tutor will be available at all times, not only to correct exercises but also to resolve doubts or answer questions that arise during the study. The general work methodology consists of:

  1. Reflective viewing of the classes taught on video.
  2. Written study of the topic (can be viewed on screen with dynamic presentations or downloaded in PDF with static infographics).
  3. Careful reading and assimilation of the complementary texts.
  4. Viewing the complementary videos.
  5. Performing the tests.
  6. Performing the exercises.
  7. Participation in ad hoc forums (not scored) and debates (scored)
Study time

The amount of time spent depends on each student. The course offers plenty of scope for those who want to go into depth, but it also allows those who have less time to get to the essentials. Thus, there will be students who prefer to study the course intensively on the weekends (and they can do so) and others will choose to work on the content a little each day.

Duration

Each course begins in October and ends in June. Students in their second year will have two months to submit their Master’s Final Project: Theory and Practicum.

  • To know and experience the most appropriate tools for effective support in the family and at school.
  • Practice the art of personal, marital and family accompaniment.
Price and registration

The cost of each year of the master’s degree is 1,350 euros . The payment is broken down into 350 euros for registration and the remaining 1,000 euros, which can be financed in two, three or seven instalments (paid from the first month of the course).

Who is it addressed to?

The Master’s Degree in Coaching and Family and Marital Support  is aimed at those who support, work and take care of families and the education of children and young people, either professionally or vocationally. Therefore, its recipients are teachers, psychologists, educators and social workers, pastoral agents, therapists and, of course, parents, as well as all those people who, due to their vocation, occupation or interest, have a relationship with families or the educational field.
